Bringing home a puppy is exciting—but it can also be overwhelming.
The Puppy Foundations Program serves to help families navigate those critical first months by teaching the skills and routines that set puppies up for lifelong success. Rather than waiting for unwanted behaviors to become habits, we'll focus on building confidence, communication, and healthy routines from the start. From potty training and crate training to socialization and basic obedience, we'll guide your family through each stage of puppy development while helping you avoid many of the frustrations that new puppy owners commonly face. This program is a great fit for puppies under 12 months, first time dog owners, and large breed puppies.

Puppy Foundation sessions can be up to 2 hours, any more than that could be overwhelming for a puppy and become detrimental to training.

Build The Dog Your Family Deserves
Most dog trainers focus on teaching commands; our focus is teaching families how to successfully live with their dogs. This is a 6–8-week program, 2 hours per session, based on your dog’s temperament and needs. In this program we focus on basic commands and family education, meaning clear communication and household structure. This is a family centered program where the dog will be one on one with trainer for the first hour for implementation on programs. The second hour will reintroduce the owner for education and breaking down homework for the week ahead until the next session. The goal of this program is not only to train the dog but also build family consistency for long term success.

At Talk of The Townes Dog Training, we believe children should be part of the journey—not spectators to it. Our Kids & Dogs Workshop teaches families how to build healthy, respectful relationships between children and dogs through education, communication, and shared experiences. By helping children understand canine body language, boundaries, and appropriate interaction, we create opportunities for stronger bonds, safer homes, and more confident family dogs.

The Family Walk Club gives dogs and their families the opportunity to practice training where it matters most—out in the real world.
Each guided walk is designed to provide structured exposure to everyday distractions, including people, dogs, children, noises, and new environments. Rather than simply exercising your dog, we focus on building calm behavior, confidence, and practical skills that help dogs succeed in everyday life.
Families are encouraged to participate together, creating opportunities for both dogs and people to learn, grow, and build stronger relationships through shared experiences.
